South Godstone to Crowhurst

Visit to the ancient yew tree in Crowhurst churchyard. After a slightly scruffy start along the busy A22 and through a muddy farmyard, the walk heads east along a low ridge to the first yew. It has a girth of over 10 metres and is at least 1,000 years old, although hollowed out it is impossible to date accurately.

I did the initial part of the attached walk – South Godstone to Crowhurst Church – and back again. Approximately 7km round trip.

Free parking at Godstone Train Station
Pubs or Coffee Shops?
None nearby – better to drive into Godstone before/after the walk
Suitability of walk for buggies?
Only suitable for off-road buggies
Walk Type
Mixture of terrain – bridleways and footpaths. Short distance on a relatively quiet road.
