Hazlehead Park, Aberdeen

Hazlehead Park to Johnston Gardens and return same way. Starts at eastern end of Hazlehead Park, walk past the eastern car park and turn south before the recycling centre down the bumpiest road on the walk. At the end, cross the road and dog leg left then right onto a footpath with a brief steep downhill section. Cross Craigiebuckler Avenue and continue on the path . Cross another smaller road and continue on past Walker Dam. Eventually you will come out onto Springfield Road. Cross Springfield Road with care and follow signs down the opposite bank on the footpath to Johnston Gardens. At Rubislaw Park Gardens, follow what looks like a large driveway to the back entrance to the Gardens. There is a small play area at the top end of the Gardens which are really pretty in spring. Return the same route you came and have a lovely brew and a slice of cake at the cafe.

If you don’t mind getting a bit muddy and bumping on some occasional rough terrain then you can do this with a normal buggy too, with a bit of effort. Mostly wooded paths, some short “hills” (like 10m sections!), across a couple of main roads so not good for accompanying toddlers.
